More about this list

Inside the city the clubs are spread by neighbourhood. Monteolivete plays in its own premises on Calle Escultor José Capuz and holds a blitz one Friday a month; Gambito Benimaclet uses the sports centre of its neighbourhood and runs the Vila de Benimaclet open in June; C.D. Basilio is based at the chess hall of the La Petxina complex, and the Ciutat Vella club works alongside it; Olivereta has announced a first rated tournament of its own for November; and Dama Roja, on Calle Just Ramírez, plays a tournament most Fridays.

Outside it, many towns of the metropolitan area field a team in the league of the Valencian federation: Paterna, Mislata, Manises, Silla, Torrent, Alaquàs, Aldaia, Albal, Alboraya, Meliana, Massanassa, Benetússer and, further north, Sagunto. The Burjassot club is known from a charity tournament played in July. The Mislata club, whose site marks eighty years since its founding, keeps a school at the El Quint pavilion; EDAPA in Paterna and the Alaquàs club organise tournaments of their own.

For many of these clubs the only public trace is a line in a league table. The name and the town are certain; the club room, the opening hours and a contact are not published anywhere we could read, and their cards say so instead of guessing. Where an address does appear, it is often the hall used for the club's own tournament, not a confirmed seat. Anyone who knows where one of these clubs meets can send it through the contribution form.
